Starting in August, our monthly Analytics Report Card Article will contain data available only through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) interface. As previously mentioned, we started shifting from Google’s Universal Analytics (UA) to Google Analytics 4 in May.
GA4 uses a different measurement model with a focus on event-based tracking, compared to sessions-based model in UA. As a result, data for the same period looks different in UA and GA4 dashboards.
To avoid confusion, from now on, we’ll rely on GA4 data only. Google announced that UA will be deprecated in 2023. More precisely, it will stop processing hits on July 1, 2023. If you still haven’t switched to GA4, you can read instructions on how to do it here. Switching to GA4 is not a question of whether you should do it or not but a matter of when. The sooner you do it, the more data you’ll have in your dashboard.
In July, the total number of users who visited Wonderful Machine’s website was 7.6K. Out of those, 7.1K were new users, and the average engagement time was 2m 02s.
When creating comparisons, we will rely on data collected in the previous three months (from May to July) since that’s when we switched to GA4. Our reports and traffic comparisons will become more precise over time as we collect more data.
Here you can see how the data for July compares to our 3-month average (May-July).
Analytics category | July 2022 | 3-month average | % change |
Users | 7.6K | 8.3K | -8.4 |

When it comes to locations of our users, our top 3 countries (75% of the total number of users) for July were the United States, India, and the United Kingdom.
Below you can see information about where our traffic originates. We paused Google Ads in July, so we can attribute a slight traffic drop to a decrease of users who visited our website through paid search.
Here we will share the total amount of searches on our Find Photographers page, as well as a comparison with the 3-month average.
Analytics category | July 2022 | 3-month average | % change |
Searches | 6.8K | 7.33K | -7.2 |
Users | 295 | 754 | -60.9 |
Views per user | 23.34 | 9.72 | +140.1 |
The highest percentage of searches are from the United States. Other countries on the list are Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, etc.
