September was a month of transition at Wonderful Machine, as we welcomed multiple new faces. However, our search site saw a good amount of traffic, with 15,021 visits and 22,179 page views, a 10% increase from September of last year.
These visitors were spread out all across the globe. Here are the top 10 countries generating traffic from September:
The WM blog saw 19,129 visits in the month of September, with 67,653 page views. Of these visits, 59.77% were new visitors.
From a publicity standpoint, it is important to distinguish where this site traffic is coming from. For the blog specifically, we pay special attention to our social media channel activity because this is our primary method of driving readers to the WM blog. The list below shows our social network activity in the month of September. Facebook leads the way, driving 58% of the visits to our blog. Twitter is second at 28%, followed by Pinterest and Tumblr.
As I reviewed our overall traffic sources, I can see that 6,143 visits in September came from Google organic (unpaid listing) searches, followed by direct visits to blog our site, and then people that came to our blog via the main WM search site. It is also important to note which platforms are driving the highest number of new visitors, because we want to keep the new visitors coming. In this case, Pinterest led the way, with 95% being new visits, followed by Google referral sources (clicked from other websites) at 87% and, Facebook at 82 percent. So, because we can see that Pinterest is leading in the way of new users, we know to continue to pay focus on that area.
