The first two steps of Richard Silver’s brand redesign included a new logo, website, and edit. Now, all we had left to tackle was Richard’s Print Promo and Emailer. We knew immediately that we wanted to continue using the modern and clean aesthetic we had established with Richard’s new Brand Identity throughout the rest of his marketing materials.
First up on the docket was Richard’s new emailer template. Richard knew that he wanted to include all of his social media, along with a grid of multiple images, a bit of content about him and his contact information. With all of that in mind, I set off to come up with a first round of options that captured the flavor of Richard’s new globetrotting brand. Here are a few of my favorites from the first round.
There wasn’t a clear favorite after the first round, so I took the elements that Richard had liked and brought them into the second round of designs. Here is one of my favorites from that round.
After the second round the winner was….
Now that we had the emailer squared away it was time to jump into Richards’s print promo. From the start, we knew we wanted to do a promo related to Richard’s travel work. At the beginning of the process, we were throwing around a few ideas, including a trifold and a postcard. But the clear standout from round one was a series of postcards modeled off plane tickets and designed to go out in sets. Each set featured cards that had a different image on the back. This created a mini world tour of Richard’s work. When it was time to select this winning set of images we brought in one of our awesome photo editors, Stacy Swiderski.
Another unique element that we were able to work into the plane ticket was the number of countries and cities that Richard had traveled to and shot in, 220 cities and 75 countries to be exact. We also chose to send the promos out in clear envelopes with mailing labels wrapped around them so the client could see Richard’s work right away. Here are a few shots of the finished product.
Richard was thrilled with the whole process, but I will let him speak for himself.
When I decided to do a full makeover of my website and marketing, I needed Wonderful Machine to assist me with my email and print promo mailer campaign. Samantha and Stacy teamed up to work with me on the project. Samantha came up with this amazing idea of a clear envelope with multiple photos of my travels along with information regarding me as a photographer. The clear envelope gave the recipient the opportunity to see exactly what I was hoping to share, photos of my work and who I am. The idea was just what I was looking for regarding my marketing. They also designed a clean, easy to read email template for all of my emails throughout the year. By working with Wonderful Machine I feel that I am now presenting myself as a true professional photographer, unlike before when I didn’t feel I was getting my message across as I intended.
