Whether it’s telling the stories of real people or working with a casting agent to find the right talent, Atlanta-based lifestyle photographer Gregory Miller is always interested in connecting with the people on the other side of his lens.
During a weeklong assignment, Greg traveled across North Dakota to capture images that would create a cohesive brand for Bravera, which had acquired several other banks over the years. His images are being used across multiple channels, including TV, print, outdoor, web, social, and in the brand book — a document that sets distinct guidelines for maintaining brand identity across all aspects of the business.
Banking touches the lives of customers in so many ways, including small businesses, family farms, and homes. We wanted to create content that represented all these areas of impact and frame it in the context that is unique to the North Dakota region.
It was Greg’s relationship with Adrenaline, an Atlanta marketing agency specializing in small banks and credit unions across the United States, that gave him the opportunity to work on this project.
We had five consecutive shoot days, typically covering two locations each day. Locations included the newest bank branch, a family farm, a couple small businesses (coffee shop and an oil transportation company), a residential home, a state park, a museum and drone footage of Bismarck and an outlying small town.
Greg’s producer did most of the heavy lifting when it came to locations, talent, schedules and coordinating with the agency and client. Since all the locations and talent were provided in a collaborative effort with the bank, there was a lot of back and forth to ensure everyone was clear on what to expect. All the talent was provided by the client, including actual customers and bank employees.
We all worked really hard, really long hours and it was a lot of fun. We were shooting so much content with such a small crew. I would shoot stills, show selections from the back of the camera to the Creative Director. Then we would move to video when the CD and I would both have eyes on a monitor. When you’re moving as fast as we were, you have to really have a lot of faith in the people you’re working with. We all exceeded our expectations.
