Dick Patrick: Table Talk

Every year, Dallas-based photographer Dick Patrick embarks on a new personal project, or, as he likes to call it, a “photographic journey.” These projects are for nothing more than to flex his creative muscles and refresh his mind. So, the fact that his most recent finished product has already generated new business (not to mention two gold and two silver Addys), is a major bonus.

The project, called Table Talk, is a book printed on uncoated stock, using a deem emboss and bound with red-threaded stitching. It features the traditions, emotions and honesty a family experiences when gathering around a table. Dick said, “it’s more than just nutrition. It’s more than simple nourishment. It is the process of bonding, the passing on of tradition, the embodiment of what it means to be a family.” 

The book features an essay by Rebecca Payne, with a handcrafted and traditional look of craftmanship. Dick was extremely happy with the finished product and the response it received:

“This piece has been directly responsible for new business. In fact, we got a call just this afternoon for a project with a client we haven’t worked with in years. I’m really proud that a personal piece like this is receiving so much recognition. It just goes to show that it pays to follow your intuition and pursue projects that satisfy you on a personal level.”
