Instagram Takeover is a way for our member photographers to join our social media marketing efforts by having our Instagram all about them for a day. We hope to do this once or twice a month and it helps member photographers to expand their reach, engage more audience, or in layman’s terms – get more likes and follows!
We schedule one feed post and the first image will be a watermarked announcement with the photographer’s name. The images can either be from a particular specialty or curated from an individual project. The post can be single images, or carousels of up to 10 images, and include short videos (not a reel) within the carousel. (Vertical format for images and videos preferred).
Not only are Reels very popular on Instagram right now, but they are also a great opportunity to go behind the scenes on one of your photoshoots! One optional reel can scheduled on the same day as the feed post, if the photographer wishes to share one. In this case, we would publish the reel a few hours apart from the feed post. Here are some examples…
Reels should be 15 – 60 seconds and can either be pre-existing content or made fresh by you. Reels can be edited either within the IG app or with any other editing software. Voiceovers are acceptable (especially if refreshing pre-existing content) and on-screen text is recommended, but not required. (Vertical format preferred.)
You can write your own captions or you can simply provide us with background information and we’ll write captions for you. Please include some context, like the name of the project, client, location, talent, crew, and anything else that might help us tell the story of your project. Include any additional handles or hashtags you’d like us to use.
Instagram Takeover will include several stories throughout the day to focus engagement from different timezones on you. We are starting with the first image (that has a watermark announcement). Add another 3-5 stories covering either the same project or another project, depending on what you are comfortable with.
In total, 1 feed post and several stories will be shared on our Instagram. Post will be scheduled according to our regular posting time, and the stories will be spread out throughout the day. It would be nice if you could provide us with about a dozen images we can select from. We usually post at 1 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time, but if you’d like them to go live at a different time, just let us know.
You can send us content by email or any other delivery system you are comfortable with, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer.
