Kevin Brown: The Big Easy

BY Wonderful Machine 12 March 2015
Published, Photographer Spotlight

We’ve all been there: a little burnt out with the grind of everyday projects and work—feeling the need to rejuvenate. Of course, for photographers this process is a bit different, as their rejuvenation usually consists of getting away and doing what they do everyday (without the constraints of deadlines or specs).

Dallas photographer Kevin Brown recently jetted off to New Orleans to do just that— get rejuvenated creatively. The Big Easy is a release for Kevin, and he visits whenever he gets the chance:

“With unexpected surprises around every corner in this amazing city, the vibe of New Orleans really fuels me creatively. The carefree spirit, slow southern pace, the rich colors, unmatched architecture throughout the city and especially in the French quarter make this a dream city to photograph.”

Kevin took advantage of the beautiful surroundings, venturing out in the early morning hours and wandering the city with his small, quiet and inconspicuous Fuji X100s. This way, he was able to capture the more calm and peaceful moments around NOLA, away from the noise of Bourbon Street.
