Food & Drink photographer Kyle Dreier was happy to spice things up for a recent shoot with Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill. The Nashville-based photographer specializes in colorful, sophisticated food & beverage shots and was excited to photograph the delicious handmade salsas that Salsarita’s is known for, as well as other mouthwatering dishes.
Salsarita’s thrives on serving authentic Mexican food in a fast and friendly environment. The chain currently has locations in 19 states and is in the process of rebranding and expanding. Kyle connected with Salsarita’s through the Johnson Group in Chattanooga, TN, which he has an ongoing relationship with. The agency wanted to give Salsarita’s a refreshed look through photography as part of a larger rebranding which involved a new logo, website, and in-store signage.
Kyle worked closely with Robbie Lail, the Creative Director at the Johnson Group. He provided mood boards which were used as inspiration to develop a consistent look for the images. From there they created a shot list; Kyle would have three shoot days to produce 25 final images. The team also included food stylists Teresa Blackburn and Whitney Kemp and prop stylist Emily Pierce, who gathered everything they needed for the shoot while their in-house producer coordinated all the logistics.
Kyle and his team worked with a corporate culinary team from Salsarita’s to coordinate different aspects of the shoot, such as getting hold of propriety ingredients and finalizing recipes for dishes that were still in flux, so that everything could be photographed on time. The corporate team was able to collaborate with Kyle and the stylists to ensure the food accurately represented the Salsarita’s menu and made sure the photography did not over-promise the experience.
The shoot went off without a hitch and Kyle was able to complete the shot list on time without issue. He gives a lot of credit to the agency’s team, Salsarita’s, and Kyle’s crew for anticipating variables and planning thoroughly to account for an ambitious shot list.
It was truly a case of everyone doing what they needed to do and getting results that showed for all the effort. I’m proud of our team…everyone was very professional and did a great job.
Kyle hopes that his part in Salsarita’s rebranding will aid in a sales increase for each store and brand growth. His favorite part of the experience was the collaboration he had during production. He enjoyed working closely with all the creatives involved to really wow the client.
Working with our stylists always makes productions go smoothly and enjoyably. Salsarita’s was great and really allowed the agency and I to do what we were hired to do.
Kyle hopes he will continue to hit the repeat button and do more of the same kind of projects with Salsarita’s for years to come. His sweet spot is serving a client with consistent results on an ongoing basis, so when Salsarita’s is ready to back up, Kyle is ready to ‘chip’ in.
