Matthew Coughlin is a Gulf Breeze, Florida-based portraiture photographer who was approached by SLAM magazine last November to photograph some top 10 college basketball prospects. The editors loved the work and invited Matthew back to photograph a cover image of the NBA’s #1 Draft Pick Deandre Ayton.
The production went really well. Although Deandre is a huge human being and this was a national cover, the shoot was relatively small in scale. I worked with one local assistant who also served as digital tech on the shoot. The editor of the magazine flew out from New York and he brought the custom “The Future” t-shirt which they wanted Deandre to wear for the cover.
