Member Open House: Self-Assigned Projects with Mary Beth Koeth

One of the ways we’re supporting our member photographers during COVID-19 is with a weekly Member Open House. These discussions, which are often presented in a Zoom call, are hosted by Wonderful Machine staff members and will cover topics that we hope you’ll find interesting and informative. This week, we were joined by member photographer Mary Beth Koeth to talk about self-assigned projects.

Mary Beth has worked with editorial clients such as Southwest: the Magazine, Billboard Magazine, and O Magazine. Her photography has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the British Journal of Photography, and The Huffington Post. Her personal projects (which she explains in detail in the video below) include “Off-Season Santas,” a portrait series that looks at how professional Santas spend their summer months, and — more recently — “Porn Moms,” which explores how women who work in the adult film industry balance motherhood with their careers.
