Santa Monica, California-based photographer Natasha Lee photographed Lori Volk of Lori’s Original Lemonade for a story called “Second Careers” in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine. Kiplinger found Natasha through the Wonderful Machine Find Photographers page and contacted her about the shoot, which took place in a lemon grove just outside of Los Angeles.
In my correspondence with Lori, we decided on a location that she had access to that fit my vision of the story. I gave her some guidance on wardrobe options as well as suggested props to bring and we shot at a lemon grove (on a very hot summer day!) not far from her office in Ventura County, just north of Los Angeles. It was one of those fun, intimate portrait shoots where Lori and I connected right away and chatted throughout the shoot. She was enthusiastic about the different setups I had in mind and I left with a case of her famous Lavender Lemonade.
