Print Mailer: Always Fresh

BY Wonderful Machine 20 January 2014

By Karrisa Olsen

Organic. Farm fresh. All-natural. Cage-free.

For some people, these are buzzwords overused in food marketing trends. For others, they’re music to the ears and body. But regardless of who you are or what your food preferences are, there’s no denying that supporting local farms and consuming fresh produce is a step in a healthier direction. At Wonderful Machine, we thoroughly enjoy nutritious and delicious food (but it’s not always nutritious, let’s be honest)–that’s why for January’s print mailer, we chose this rustic and refreshing image shot by Austin-based Jody Horton, sent to thousands of creatives and printed by Modern Postcard.

Jody gave us some background on the experience:

The image was for a non-profit coalition of local farms that organizes a yearly East Austin Farm Tour event. It was taken on the back porch of the main house at Boggy Creek Farm. We picked the produce and eggs from the garden and set it up to photograph them. As I was shooting one of the chickens started wandering up. He seemed to be interested in the greens. I backed up and waited. He got closer and finally close enough to get him in frame for a few frames before clucking off.
