Print Mailer: Pulling for you

BY Wonderful Machine 14 August 2015
Intel, Report Card, Published

The team here at Wonderful Machine is always working to help get you where you want to be. Whether we’re matching clients up with photographers, revamping a photographer’s brand, or orchestrating a production, you can be sure that we’re pulling for you. That’s why, for our August print mailer, we paired that tagline up with Madison, Wisconsin-based photographer Narayan Mahon‘s fantastic shot from the Tug of War World Championships (yes, that’s a thing). Check out the final mailer (printed by Modern Postcard) below:

Narayan was kind enough to tell us a little bit more about the fun image:

So, this was shot on assignment for ESPN the Magazine. I pitched them this story about the Tug of War World Championships when I drove by the park in which it was taking place. I saw it and thought, ‘what the hell is that?!’ I had just started working with a new camera system, a Pentax 645D digital medium format, and I was looking for something like this to do as test for that camera, So I did a quick search about it and then immediately called an editor at ESPN the Magazine that I work with regularly and said, ‘hey, this is happening Saturday and Sunday (it was Friday!).’ He said, ‘yeah, let’s do it!’ So I went out there with a Profoto Ringflash and shot it, some of which was in the rain. It was a good time!
