Memorial Day is here! Or, at least it was yesterday. And that means summer weather isn’t far behind. At the Wonderful Machine headquarters, the temperature is so high, it’s made us want to pack up our things and head to the beach. But there’s work to be done, and luckily, our member roster is just as hot as the weather.
Printed by Modern Postcard and sent to 2,990 creatives across North America, our May print mailer was shot by Los Angeles duo Rickett & Sones. They were kind enough to share some insight into this oh-so-hot desert photo, as well as some additional pics from the shoot:
This was a campaign we shot for a brand of sandals called Sseko. We shot the images at El Mirage, the famous salt flats in the California desert where the land speed record is set. Lots of movies, TV shows, and commercials are shot there as well; it’s a very iconic location.
This was one of the first campaigns that we shot as a team, and we were still figuring out our flow. We both had cameras in our hands and sufficiently exhausted the models making them bounce between us! We had a great crew, everyone had a blast running around in that infinite landscape, and the client was happy. It was a great experience in every way.
