Hove, England-based photographer Richard Boll recently worked with Layer, an industrial design agency, to create this visually appealing project for Nolii’s innovative technology products such as their emergency phone battery with bluetooth tracker and a fast-charge plug.
What was involved in planning and preproduction?
Once the general areas had been chosen by the client, I helped them scout for specific locations for the shots. Model selection was made by the client, and they also sourced styling, hair and makeup.
How many shoots did you conduct to get all the images?
Between the product shoots and the lifestyle shoot, I’d say there were around 3 to four days of shooting, some in the studio and some on location around East London.
What were the shoots like?
I always enjoy shooting with Layer; they have a very clear idea of what they want which leads to efficient and productive days. I enjoy the spontaneity of shooting outdoors in a city like London too, having to stay flexible for the light, weather etc.
What has the reaction to the images been so far?
The images have had a great reception, with a wide range of usage in magazines/design websites etc., as well as on the Nolii website. I think collectively they work well to create a strong overall look to the Nolii project. This is predominantly down to the excellent planning and very strong ideas of the commissioning client, Layer.
