I had to ask.
Sabrina Hill just completed a shoot with LinkedIn, so when she informed me of this fact, I had to ask:
Did you get the job through LinkedIn?
I’d love to say that I got this job through LinkedIn, but, alas, I did not.
Darn it …
The campaign “Real Face of Sales” was my second shoot with the team over at Brands2Life and LinkedIn. It’s always such a joy to work with repeat clients.
Honestly, that’s as good of a non-yes answer as you can hope for because it means that both parties liked Sabrina’s work enough to re-link [ahem] with her. During the pre-production meetings in Colorado, the Los Angeles-based photographer rubbed shoulders with people from all over the world, which makes sense because of LinkedIn’s global reach.
We had quite the international crew in Denver for this shoot. At one point, we had people from five different countries during a scout, and I found myself explaining to a Brit and an Italian what nachos were during lunch.
In between spur-of-the-moment culinary discussions, the squad hashed out a plan that was flexible enough to allow Sabrina to bring her own visions to the table. Part of the reason LinkedIn invited the Californian back into the fold is her ability to get the best out of regular subjects.
They created a “wish list” of shots that was detailed but malleable enough that I could contribute ideas throughout. We shot for two beautiful days in Boulder.
I think they appreciate how I work with people that aren’t models — real people, folks who don’t always feel so comfortable in front of the camera. I really appreciate working with Brands2Life. It’s been a great balance of freedom and collaboration. The intention is always to create the best and most innovative work possible.
It certainly helped that the people in the images were incredibly easy to work with and played their role of “redefined salesperson” to a T.
The two women cast were a dream. It was easy to immediately earn their trust as they were vibrant and connecting women. They were cast to redefine the face of what a “salesperson” looks like and they really fit the bill.
Sabrina’s work has popped up all over San Francisco — LinkedIn’s home base — which gave the photographer a chance to see her work in the wild. One of the nice things about viewing your assets in this more traditional context is getting to show people from older generations where it is without having to over-explain how the deliverables were utilized.
The client was delighted with the work. It’s on bus stops and other out-of-home locations throughout San Francisco.
It’s always a joy to see my images outside of my computer or camera. It’s something I’m always proud of, and so is my mom!
