After recently completing an SEO Audit for Fashion and Travel photographer Robert Rausch, Mate Mikulandra and I worked together to resolve the most critical SEO weak points on Robert’s website. Once we had identified the key areas of his website in need of improvement, our SEO Implementation service put strategies and tools into practice that would improve his website’s organic visibility on Google and other search engines.
Robert lives and works in the small town of Tuscumbia, Alabama, where he runs his own photo studio and creates commercial and editorial photography for clients like Billy Reid, Garden and Gun, The New York Times, and more. His work spans a diverse range of projects, from lifestyle and product photography to travel stories for popular publications. For a skilled photographer like Robert who lives and works outside major metropolitan areas, a high SEO ranking helps with getting more clicks from search engines.
Our initial SEO Audit produced a detailed list of action points which we prioritized based on their potential impact on organic visibility. These included conducting keyword research, improving metadata, setting up tracking tools, fixing broken links, and more. Our work began with the highest priority items first to ensure we maximized the benefits of our efforts early on.
Thorough keyword research was the first step of the implementation process. We identified keywords with solid search volumes and aligned them with relevant pages on Robert’s website. We then worked on proposals for optimized meta titles, meta descriptions, and H1 tags. After receiving Robert’s approval, we implemented these changes on his website.
Once we’d identified the best keywords, we also reduced the amount of H1 tags on the homepage. Using too many H1 tags can disrupt the hierarchy of a webpage’s content, making it harder for search engines to understand the main topic of the page and thereby diminishing your SEO score. We promptly corrected the issue by consolidating the H1 tags into a single, primary H1 tag per page.
Finally, we improved the URL structure by fixing errors and creating necessary URL redirects to improve user experience. Robert had broken links in his menu, which led to pages that showed a 404 Error. We redirected them, either to the homepage, or to some other relevant page on the website.
In the subsequent phase, we set up Google Analytics and Google Search Console for Robert’s website. Many photographers often skip creating these accounts, as they often feel like adding one more task to manage. These tools, however, are incredibly helpful for tracking results and determining whether the planned SEO strategy yields the desired outcomes.
Robert was interested in managing some aspects of his SEO independently. We were happy to see Robert engaged in the details of his SEO and wanted to give him the tools to learn more. To help him continue the SEO work on his own, we created a step-by-step guide to demonstrate how to edit meta titles and meta descriptions using the Squarespace backend.
Our project with Robert Rausch on implementing SEO strategies for his website has yielded positive results. After completing the SEO implementation, we submitted all the changes to Google Search Console. Although it typically takes a few weeks to months to see the full impact, the initial data is promising. Since implementing our solutions, Google Analytics has shown a noticeable increase in website traffic and organic visibility. This results in more clicks and indicates improved reach and engagement.
Overall, Google Search Console dashboard indicates a significant increase in organic visibility for Robert’s website. These improvements make it easier for potential clients to discover Robert’s photography services online. Using the best SEO practices is important for visibility in search engines, which is key to marketing for photographers. Mate and I are excited that our techniques have made a difference and have helped boost the visibility of Robert’s website.
