Fortive, an industrial technology conglomerate, needed images of employees at work for their career website as part of a recruitment campaign. They wanted to cover six different locations, so we coordinated unique productions at each site, handling everything from sourcing the photographers and crew to handling logistics and supervising post-production and delivery.
As the parent company to multiple brands across 175 locations in 50 countries, Fortive works primarily in the areas of technology, operating solutions, and healthcare. Their Careers website plays a vital role in attracting potential employees, so they wanted to refresh the imagery to enhance this platform.
The locations included ServiceChannel in San Francisco, Provation in Minneapolis, ASP in Irvine, California, Industrial Scientific in Pittsburgh, Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon, and Fluke in Eindhoven, Netherlands. After recommending photographers in each city, we ultimately brought on Andy Smith, Ed Carreón, Elliott Cramer, Drew Anthony Smith, Judith Wagner, and Todd Eckelman to capture the imagery for each brand in their respective locations.
For each photographer and location, we scheduled creative calls with local representatives from each of the facilities in which we’d be working. Those calls helped us understand what made each of those operations unique, which in turn helped us build a tentative shot lists that gave structure to our location scouting.
After the site visits helped us nail down the scenarios for each of those locations, our local Fortive representatives recruited employees to feature in each shoot.
We scheduled one shoot day for each brand, except for the ServiceChannel, where we’d need a bit more time. Since so many ServiceChannel employees work remotely, we scheduled wanted to photograph two different employees on separate days, showing each of them working in their home offices.
While all the other five locations were in the US, Fluke is based in the Netherlands. Fortunately, Judith Wagner, who lives in Düsseldorf, was an ideal choice for the project and within driving distance of the Fluke office.
Each of our photographers successfully captured a diverse range of visual assets at each location. We coordinated the file delivery for each shoot, communicated retouching needs, and ensured a smooth workflow, providing Fortive with 30 final images from each photographer.
