January was a month of new highs and lows, with our smaller social media platforms gaining some much-deserved momentum. On the other hand, Pinterest numbers seemed to crash after the high of the December holiday season.
The waters were generally calm this month on Instagram, with some slight ebb and flow. Our page reach saw a decrease to 6K, with impressions lowering 5% to 23K. However, profile visits increased slightly to 785, and website taps — the biggest wave of the month — reached 51, a +64% increase compared to December.
Park City, Utah-based photographer Brian Smith (BPD Studios) and his 10-image carousel was the best performing post of the month, garnering 102 likes and a reach of 1.4K:
While our top Instagram story slid into home base right at the end of the month, with Philadelphia-based Steve Boyle’s Unpublished project, where he paid homage to former Olympic medalist Florence Griffith-Joyner in a shoot with fitness model Amber Callahan. The story saw 296 views.
Our top Reel was part of an Instagram takeover with San Pablo, Costa Rica-based fashion photographer Irene Peña. The takeover showcased her recent work with recycled, sustainable clothing brand RE TURN Upcycling. By the end of January, the second of the two BTS Reels clocked in with 1,410 views:
After the holiday-infused hysteria of December, we anticipated a steep cool down this January… and we weren’t wrong! Our Pinterest impressions fell to 153K, with engagements only reaching 4K. Our outbound clicks did reach 325, though, which is nothing to sneeze at.
Our Top Board — quell surprise — is once again Home & Garden, with 13K impressions this month.
Our best performing pin on Pinterest posted in January was St. Augustine, Florida-based Ryan Wendler‘s logo! Many turn to Pinterest for personal branding inspiration, so it’s no surprise to see a logo perform well, with 135 impressions:
Facebook showed pretty ordinary numbers this month, with a reach of 1.6K.
Our post with the furthest reach was Brian Smith (BPD Studios)‘s carousel repost from Instagram, with 755 reach and 9 engagements:
Yet the post with the most engagement was Buenos Aires, Argentina-based Javier Pierini‘s Photographer Spotlight, where he took to the bustling streets of the Argentine capital to give readers a peek into the lifestyle of this multi-cultural city for National Geographic UK. The post garnered 31 engagements and a reach of 593.
The best performing Facebook story of January was the promotion for Phoenix, Arizona-based home and garden photographer Michael Duerinckx‘s spotlight article featuring an 8,100-square-foot luxury vacation home in Scottsdale, Arizona for Est Est Interior Design. His beautiful images were later featured in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine and licensed by several parties involved in the massive project. The story reached 54 views:
LinkedIn saw modest growth this January — 356 page views and 35 new followers.
Our furthest reaching post was Canmore, Canada-based Alex Buisse‘s spotlight article, exploring and celebrating his new coffee table book entitled Mont Blanc Lines. The post amassed 227 impressions:
