In October, we received five unmanaged stock requests: AARP, The Pioneer Woman Magazine, Condé Nast Traveller, AAA, and Highflyer Magazine. Additionally, we received one managed stock request from ESPN. In an unmanaged request, the photographer negotiates the usage of the images on their own, while in a managed request, we negotiate the usage of images on behalf of the photographer. All unmanaged requests were for a magazine to use the images in their upcoming issues, while as ESPN needed to create a library of sports photography to be showcased within their streaming platform.
Earlier this month, AARP requested images for an upcoming AARP The Magazine travel issue, focusing on people enjoying activities across various locations. In Boston, they sought photos of people dining outdoors, shopping, and Revolutionary War reenactments for a feature on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Fairbanks, Alaska was for images of people hiking, skiing, and visiting hot springs, with a preference for winter scenes. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, they requested photos featuring groups in colonial settings, particularly in neighborhoods like Palermo and Villa Crespo.
Additionally, The Pioneer Woman Magazine sought vertical images of cherry blossoms for an upcoming issue. Specific locations included Washington, DC, with blossoms near monuments such as Macon, Georgia, Traverse City in Michigan, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Cherry Esplanade, and Japanese Gardens in New York. They aimed for scenic compositions without people in them that showcased the beauty of cherry blossoms in each setting.
Mid-October, Condé Nast Traveller UK was in search of images of international destinations for a feature on unique travel spots. For Snowdonia, Wales, they focused on areas like Harlech Beach and Portmeirion. In Baku, Azerbaijan, they requested photos of landmarks like the Candy Cane Mountains and the Heydar Aliyev Centre, alongside general street scenes. In Mahon, Balearic Islands, Spain, they wanted images of shopping and vibrant street scenes. Each image was intended to highlight local culture and landscape in an authentic, refined style.
ESPN reached out for submissions for a collection of sports photography for their streaming platform. The idea was to represent various sports through dynamic, artistic images. They required visuals of 26 different sports, such as basketball, soccer, golf, and skiing, focusing on abstract or unexpected compositions. Images needed to avoid identifiable athletes or logos and be in horizontal format. Additionally, images needed to capture the excitement of live sports with an ESPN-branded aesthetic.
AAA needed travel images of Fiji for their Westways and AAA Explorer magazines, focusing on snorkeling, diving, coral reefs, and the Bouma Waterfalls. They preferred both horizontal and vertical formats with copy space, aiming to capture the natural beauty and adventure of the Fiji Islands for a travel-focused audience.
Near the end of October, The Australian Financial Review’s Highflyer Magazine requested high-end, editorial-style photos for a 2025 issue on luxury air travel. They sought images of stylish travelers and airport personnel in upscale settings, including first-class lounges, boarding areas, and cockpits. The preference was for shots from past fashion or editorial shoots that highlighted the luxury and sophistication of air travel, with a focus on transit lounges, duty-free shopping, and future travel themes.
