In August, Wonderful Machine received two managed stock requests: one from an agency working with the Pennsylvania Tourism Board, and another from ESPN. In a managed request, we “manage” the intake of the photos submitted for the benefit of the client and then we negotiate on behalf of the photographer. If a stock sale is made, we take a commission on the fees. The PA Tourism Board request was for placement in a 30-second broadcast spot for up to three months. The ESPN request was for unlimited use in perpetuity.
At the start of the month, an agency working with the Pennsylvania Tourism Board reached out seeking 4k video footage and photography of scenic locations across Pennsylvania, including fall foliage, Gettysburg, Erie Wine Country, Route 6, Lancaster farmer’s markets, and Cherry Springs State Park with content highlighting PA’s natural beauty.
A week later, ESPN contacted us in search of dynamic storytelling stock photography for “Fight Life,” a new series that delves into the lives of professional boxers beyond the ring. The client asked that the images capture the essence of the fight world through abstract stills, fight action, accessories, empty rings, old gyms, and similar scenes, reflecting the gritty nature of boxing and aligning with the show’s theme.
