In July, Wonderful Machine received an unmanaged stock request from AAA and a managed stock request from AARP The Magazine. In an unmanaged request, the photographer negotiates the usage of the images on their own. In a managed request, we “manage” the intake of the photos submitted for the benefit of the client and then we negotiate on behalf of the photographer. If a stock sale is made, we take a commission on the fees. The unmanaged stock request from AAA was for one-time Print Editorial and concurrent Web use. The managed stock request from AARP The Magazine was for one-time Web Editorial use.
First, a client at AAA reached out seeking travel imagery of subjects in Osaka and Kyoto, Japan, that evoke a sense of “place,” including key locales and sights for an upcoming editorial feature.
Around the same time, a client at AARP The Magazine reached out seeking scenic travel imagery featuring Alaska’s Seward Highway, the Italian region of Sardinia, Costa Rica, and Family Cruises for an upcoming digital travel issue.
