Box jump. Snatch. Muscle up. Deadlift. Ring dip. If these terms sound like more than just torture methods to you, you might be a cross-fitter. Since its inception in 2000, CrossFit has quickly become one of the most popular exercise philosophies and competitive fitness sports in the country. Dedicated “cross-fitters” see it as not only a hobby but as a lifestyle.
Recently, Boston-based commercial photographer Michael Quiet stretched his creative muscles by photographing CrossFit athletes, saying that as a photographer he strives to capture moments of personal triumph:
I enjoy being able to photograph people overcoming personal goals and putting their all into something they love. I’m constantly inspired by how people will push their own limits in order to achieve their goals. The Crossfit project showcases the physical strength, mental focus, and incredible grit of the athletes involved.
Although Michael doesn’t participate in CrossFit, he admits that if he had the time he would do so, simply for the fun and inspiring atmosphere. He worked in a dimly lit environment that pushed him to explore different angles and approaches.
The images are going to be used for Michael’s different marketing vehicles, including social media, website, and print.
