Los Angeles-based editorial, commercial, and fine art photographer Patrick Strattner is a big fan of soccer. So, when he was recently approached by Lufthsana Inflight Magazine about doing a portrait for their ongoing series, “What’s In Your Bag,” he was ecstatic to find out that it was Jürgen Klinsmann, legendary player and coach of both the German and US national teams, who is currently coaching the US team in their quest for the 2014 World Cup title.
Although Jurgen had just stepped off a plane from Phoenix, where the US Soccer team had played Mexico the night before, Patrick said he was amiable and easygoing, with a quiet confidence about him.
The focus of the shoot was to show six items that Jürgen Klinsmann had in his carry-on bag and explain what they are and why he took them along.
Patrick is a huge fan of the World Cup, especially this year, with the US and Germany both advancing out of the “group of death” into the knockout round of 16. Catch the first single-elimination game for the US vs. Belgium today at 4 p.m. EST!
