On October 23, Wonderful Machine participated in Visual Connections Image Expo, a premier stock agency event that happens annually in New York, Chicago, and Toronto. We attended this year’s expo in New York. Our photo editor Tori and I had the privilege of representing our impressive directory of photographers and our new stock request feature.
By 10:30 am, a flurry of banners and promotional materials filled the Altman Building. Vendors set up their stations with digital displays along with a handful of other promotional materials. We were feeling confident about our shiny new banners compliments of our designer Joey. We brought along print promotions, business cards, a laptop to display our website’s stock search form tab, Wonderful Machine t-shirts, and of course, our smiles!
During the event, we met and spoke with many art buyers and photo researchers from various specialties and regions. A few creatives had previously worked with us and admired our services. Others were curious to learn more about what we had to offer. The most valuable aspect of the event was the curated audience. Visual Connections specifically targeted the attendees, and it made a difference in the experience. We were able to dive much deeper into each conversation about our stock feature because people already had a fundamental understanding of how image licensing works.
By the end of the day, we were wiped clean of our business cards and t-shirts. However, they were fairly traded for the valuable new connections we made and brands we marketed to. Not to mention the Condé Nast shot glasses that we’ll be sure to find a good use for.
