Canon Australia re-posted an Instagram post that Wonderful Machine photographer Mark Lehn had posted on his Instagram on Christmas Day, 2015. The image was of his baby daughter’s feet underwater in a pool. Don’t worry, it’s hot in Australia at Christmas time! Canon created a yearbook using selected images posted to their Instagram in 2015 and included Mark’s image. Canon’s book aimed to celebrate the year in photography.
The image was a great success for Mark, receiving more than 2,300 likes on Canon Australia’s Instagram. Everyone who sees the book is extremely impressed with the quality. Although there are no future plans for the image, Mark is always trying to find ways to improve engagement on his Instagram. Engaging with Canon and connecting with a big brand was a great way to do this.

West Haven, Connecticut-based photographer Christopher Beauchamp was on an ice climbing trip in Newfoundland last winter when he had the idea of doing a feature story on climbing in Gros Morne National Park with the editors from Rock And Ice. He had worked with them quite a few times previously and they were excited to see what kind of images Chris could bring back.
West Haven, Connecticut-based photographer Christopher Beauchamp was on an ice climbing trip in Newfoundland last winter. During this trip, he got the idea of doing a feature story on climbing in Gros Morne National Park with the Rock And Ice editors. Christopher had worked with them quite a few times previously. They were excited to see what kind of images Chris could bring back.
Rock and Ice sought Chris’ images to inspire, capturing the beauty and grandeur of the unfamiliar climbing experience.
Careful planning helped Chris and his team withstand the extreme weather and physical hazards. The wind was absolutely relentless, which made it difficult to avoid complete whiteouts and get crisp, clear images.
It’s a backcountry environment, no one’s coming to save you. There’s no room for errors.
The Newfoundland residents aided Chris and his team by sharing their local insights and extensive knowledge of the area’s weather patterns and terrain.
Chris’s second image was created as part of his involvement as an instructor with Rock and Ice Magazine’s annual “Photo Camp”. The magazine puts together this workshop, and its editors always pick a great location. This time it was Rifle Mountain Park, in Rifle, Colorado. They secured top-level pro athletes as models and wardrobes from sponsor companies. They have editors and photography instructors (like Chris) guide students through an intense week of shooting, editing, and post-production.
Chris tried to help inspire and share as much as possible while he worked with the students, and of course made some great images along the way.

Scott Drickey had previously created a motion spot featuring fashion designer, Dalton Taylor at his show for his first line. While Scott was capturing the chaos of the dressing room prior to the show, one of the models, Kailee Lawerence, caught his eye.
Since Dalton was drawn to her as well, Scott started speaking to Kailee’s agent, Sasha Speiker of Sasha Models. Scott was able to bring Kailee onboard for shooting a still and motion “Fashion Vignette”. Scott’s work has evolved into cutting still images into a moving image spot which helps him convey a subject in a different, more elusive narrative. He planned to use this technique to photograph Kailee.
Scott’s peers and friends within the fashion industry have received the motion spot very well. Dalton Taylor, Kailee, and her agent were all thrilled with the final images. The project is picking up traction as Scott continues to get bids on projects for new clients.
