Wonderful Machine Top-Ranked Photographer Directory

It’s never entirely clear how much you can make of Alexa rankings, but now that we’ve clawed our way to the top, we at least want to make a note of it. Alexa.com reports that we’re the most prominent professional photographer directory both in the U.S. and internationally.

Here are the numbers as of 4/4/11:

We’ve compared Wonderful Machine to other sites that are primarily focused on promoting photographers, and a few picture agencies with a comparable number of photographers. What does this mean? Well, Alexa measures the web activity of users who have installed the Alexa toolbar, so it’s a self-selected sample, without much control over results. We don’t know how well this reflects web traffic in general, but we do know that it’s an accurate representation of our increased popularity within Alexa’s sample group.
