Recently, we’ve been seeing a trend towards motion work in the photography industry, and some of our photographers are making the shift to begin to specialize as commercial videographers as well. St. Louis, Missouri-based Jennifer Silverberg is one of these photographers – having recently made her directorial debut with a brand video for a local butcher shop, Bolyard’s Meat & Provisions.
I’d been wanting to try my hand at motion work for a while… and I won’t lie… I was a little nervous about it at first. It felt like looking at an intimidating blank canvas for the first time, feeling uncertain as to what direction I wanted to take with it. What I realized I needed to do was put my initial fears aside, and just dive right in! I’d been a customer of Bolyard’s Meat & Provisions since Chris opened shop around 3 years ago. So, when I decided to dive into a narrative motion project, it was an easy choice. I have so much respect for the way Chris runs the shop and his business. I knew he had a great story to tell, I love the shop, and wanted to share his story.
With a background in visual story-telling, this really became a natural extension of the food, farm and lifestyle work I am already doing with my still photography. And, once getting past some of the new logistical and technical hurdles, I was off and running. My team was amazing; I couldn’t have done it without them. I can’t wait to get to work on my next project!
