Pastry Chef Toshin Shetty opened his pâtisserie, Toshin, in Mumbai, and he asked photographer and director Jignesh Jhaveri to provide him with a video to show off his delicious desserts. Despite his young age, Toshin is amazing customers with his sophistication and skill on chocolates and desserts. He wanted a video that would showcase his creations rather than himself, and most of all, he wanted a film that would make a bit of a statement. Jignesh delivered just that. Jignesh’s video, “The Chocolatier,” just picked up the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year award in the category “Food in Film.”
Check out The Chocolatier, below.
The goal was to showcase Toshin’s process whilst making it look decadent, yummy, and luxurious.
Jignesh says that with his food videography as opposed to his food photography, he has the unique opportunity to show the food as it moves through time. He is able to show the before, during, after, and everything in between of a dish coming together. This shoot took 42 hours over the course of three days, with every shot being meticulously drawn out and practiced beforehand.
The shoot days were long and hard, but totally worth it.
