If you haven’t heard of Maddie on Things, you’re missing out. It’s basically a photographer named Theron Humphrey (cool name) taking awesome pictures of his rescue coonhound, Maddie, standing on various things.
A while back, Theron, realizing how trusting, patient and attentive his dog was (along with her excellent balance), decided to document her abilities. Lo and behold, Maddie on Things was born. The project has been swiftly gaining momentum, with a book released in March and a following tour.
This blog adventure finds Theron along with photographer Troy Stains right before the said tour. After seeing Troy’s video work in a motion piece for The Guardian: Weekend Magazine, Theron contacted him about collaborating on a promotional tour video.
“Theron wanted to be really run and gun. We actually shot with decently slick camera moves, but we decided to go hand held with the whole thing,” says Troy. It turned out great, and Troy really enjoyed working alongside Theron and Maddie.
In the end, they’re both very happy with the results and agreed the video has the right heart and attitude for the project.
