It may be cold and icy in the seasonal parts of the world, but for Rocco Ceselin in Los Angeles, it’s always bright and sunny. Rocco took full advantage of the Cali sunshine for his lifestyle shoot for Love & Sunflowers’ 2016 Spring Collection.
I wanted the photos to evoke happiness, sunshine, and warmth.
Love & Sunflowers is a California-based apparel company dedicated to creating easy, beachy, bohemian clothing for girls. The clothes are fun and colorful, so Rocco wanted to be sure to get colorful, energetic photos to reflect the brand. This was Rocco’s third shoot for the company, so they trusted him to choose the location and get the vibe they were looking for. He decided on the Venice Canals and Topenga Canyon, as the last shoot had taken place at a beach in Malibu. He also incorporated props such as sunflowers, a bike, and a French bulldog to add another depth to the pictures.
I love using props like these in a lifestyle shoot to add character and personality to the photos.
Rocco says the girls were fantastic to work with, “energetic and creative, and very professional.” Because they needed to capture friendship and freedom in the photos without anything looking forced, Rocco and the girls spent the whole day running and jumping around. This way also great for showing off the wearability of the clothing, which is designed for girls as young as seven. Rocco says he spent the day feeling like a kid again.
As usual, Love & Sunflowers was thrilled with the photos Rocco produced for them, and put them into use right away. Rocco says the Spring 2016 lookbook was a huge success, and he’s excited for the next shoot he’ll be doing with them.
