We worked with photographer David Aaron Troy and the Rivers Agency to produce a bridal lifestyle shoot for Charles & Colvard, a manufacturer, and distributor of fine jewelry. The project took us to Hanover, PA where we shot various talent over the course of two consecutive shoot days during a summer heatwave. Surrounded by fine jewelry and bridal attire, the crew managed a shot list of over 30 images all while staying cool and looking like a million bucks.
Earlier this year, we worked with photographer David Aaron Troy and Rivers Agency to produce a bridal lifestyle shoot for Charles & Colvard, a manufacturer, and distributor of fine jewelry. The project took us to Hanover, PA where we shot various models over two consecutive shoot days amid a blistering heatwave.
Surrounded by fine jewelry and bridal attire, we managed a shot list of over 30 images, all while staying cool and looking like a million bucks!
David reached out to Wonderful Machine looking for a producer to help manage the process. Needless to say, we were thrilled about the opportunity to work with him. David’s creative energy on set is contagious and livened up the crew and talent, which makes shooting with him such a great experience.
After a quick creative call, we jumped right in and started lining up the crew, catering, talent, and logistics. David already had the perfect location squared away, and conveniently enough, it happened to be a few houses down from his own in Hanover, PA.
We headed out, journeying 120 miles west of Philadelphia a day before to scout the two different residential locations. A few of the crew members came up from the D.C. area, and others were local to Hanover which made it easy on the travel budget. We sourced talent through the Reinhard Model & Talent Agency, amounting to a total of six models: five female and one male. Two of the models were specifically selected to highlight the bridal portion of the shoot.
With the crew, location, and talent in place, we began organizing the shot list. We had a lot of ground to cover with 30 shots planned over two days.
Charles & Colvard wanted to show their products in natural and positive light during everyday moments. They also wanted the images to be infused with an energetic and happy feeling. David’s documentarian shooting style along with his sensitivity to light and his subject’s emotions was right in line with the intended creative direction.
On our first day, we photographed four of our female talent members, focusing on the lifestyle portion of the shot list with a few bridal scenes. David used natural light in most of the shots supplemented with very little artificial lighting. Our second day was our bridal day, in which we shot two different females and one male model, to showcase the moments of getting ready and some traditional wedding poses.
If you’ve ever been to a wedding, you’ll know that bridal attire is not always made of the most breathable material, and we were shooting outside during a heatwave. Thankfully, with many hydration breaks and a few makeup adjustments, we were able to stay on schedule. Our crew and talent were amazing and made it look like a breeze.
After all, was said and done, we got the shots we needed and David was thankful that he hired Wonderful Machine.
