Unfiltered: IG Live Interview with Francis Hills
Episode 15 introduces us to Francis Hills, a NYC-based photographer who’s had an eventful year photographically speaking. Francis spoke with Honore Brown, who served as the photographer’s creative coach for months and helped the Englishman rebrand himself in the process. The changes, according to Honore, “helped Francis reposition himself in the market as a commercial photographer.”
But commercial photography — like every other industry — has taken a hit this year, putting the onus on each creative to stay productive on his or her own. Interestingly enough, Francis had been taking matters into his own hands even before COVID struck. To boost his portfolio, he tapped into his deep connections to the Broadway community in order to complete a personal project called Unbidden: Portraits in the Wings.
Francis, a celebrity editorial portrait photographer, also discussed his work with emerging actors in NYC, such as Crystal Nelson.
It hasn’t been all fun and games for Francis, however, though not necessarily for the reason you might think. The photographer nearly got caught up in the latest scam that’s making the rounds but managed to steer clear of it after picking up more than a few red flags.
Listen to Francis discuss the good, bad, and ugly of his 2020 in the video below!
We look forward to continuing our bi-weekly IG Live conversations every other Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. If you can’t view the discussion live, check our Unfiltered PlayList on YouTube.
