Born in Louisiana (the city), Missouri (the state), on the banks of the mighty Mississippi (the river) I was given the name of a French actress my mother saw on tv, forever imbuing me with a love for all things French.
I grew up in the Midwest, spending most of my time meandering in the creek near our farm, with my best friend, my dog Snoopy. As a teenager, I began to notice that I mentally composed what I observed into still black and white images, and I wondered if I might have a talent for photography. I took a community college class–Photo 101, and hung out in downtown St. Louis, trying to blend into walls, and capture people and life–in fact "truth" on film. I was hooked!
I set off for Santa Barbara to attend Brooks Institute and learn the craft of photography in a hilltop mansion overlooking the ocean.
After graduating with a BA, I worked my way up from apprentice to advertising photographer and have been lucky enough to work in this industry ever since.
I now live by the sea, in Santa Monica, and have my studio in Hollywood. I love the ocean, the mountains, biking, playing pool & reading (never enough time)!!
I like to surround my self with talented, hard working, funny, cool people…no drama, no egos.
My goal: To make something significant or beautiful, maybe even both, and have fun doing it!
JSquared Photography is a photo team in Los Angeles specializing in Celebrity/Portraiture, Entertainment and Commercial. photography.
We get a lot of questions about how a photography team works. It’s not too difficult to explain. Joe Magnani and Jared Schlachet have been working togther for over 10 years (and now you know why we went with JSquared rather than Schlachet and Magnani). You get two sets of eyes carefully watching the set and the monitor as images come in. You get two individuals who genuinely care about the quality of the photography we are handing to the client. Best of all you get two guys who are easy to work with and are willing to do anything for the shot. We are a team involved with all aspects of the production from pre to post.
Their work has appeared in numerous magazines including international magazines. We work with all level of clients from small business’ to entertainment networks. Some clients include Warner Bros, CW, Too Faced Cosmetics, Angeleno Magazine, Emmy Magazine, and many more.
JSquared Photography would like to continue to grow by working with new clients both local to LA and nationally.

Saam Gabbay believes we tend to associate ourselves with our skills while overlooking our superpowers, those core unteachable qualities that are at the heart of who we are and what we bring to the world. Skills? Saam has acquired them in abundance and applied them with extraordinary creativity in a career that has spanned from his time as a pioneering motion-graphics designer to his current—and often concurrent—roles as still photographer, commercial director, and creative director. (And he’s a wizard with a drone.)
But it’s his superpowers that allow Saam to marshal those skills meaningfully, that make him a unique creative force.
In a recent appreciation of Saam’s “Touchless Birthday” photo and film project, Esquire wrote that his “superpower is enabling and coordinating a crowd into a community, of finding a way to foster a ‘What if?’ moment.” He doesn’t just solve problems, he transforms them. He is particularly revered, by clients and subjects alike, for the enabling energy he brings to and fosters on a shoot, the immediate connections he’s able to forge with the talent.
Saam has created campaigns for brands including Apple, BMW, Samsung, GoPro, and dozens more.

Patrick was born in Nuremberg, Germany and grew up in a small town in Franconia. He studied photography and design at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (FH Bielefeld), where he subsequently graduated.
In 2011 he exchanged the urban setting of Berlin, where he lived and worked for several years, for the sunny beaches of Los Angeles, where he is currently based.
Patrick loves working with real people in their natural surroundings and stages them in an authentic way. His conceptual still life work often encompasses a humorous commentary. He is the happiest when he is in the midst of creating a new series of images and enjoys every part of the process, from conception to execution.

I am a commercial lifestyle and editorial photographer with roots in family photojournalism. My work best serves brands who want to help people aspire to collect moments rather than things: experiential activities, family-friendly services, artisans, museums, education, minimalistic living, agrotourism, family travel, social documentary work, and visual ethnographies.
Jason Elias is a photographer and director who lives in Venice, CA, with his wife Jessica, their son Arlo and their little dog Linus. Jason’s stills work focuses on Advertising, Portraits, Key Art, and Travel.
He originally came from the commercial film business, and those years on set have recently led back to his directing career. Over the past few years, Jason has made a documentary film, come close to investing in a Moroccan Kasbah, and scuba-dived off the coast of East Africa in Zanzibar.
He has traveled to roughly 25 countries (including India four times) and still dreams of flying to Mozambique, Mongolia, and Indonesia.
Being married to a mid-westerner, he has come to like Fargo (good pretzels) and is also the father of an amazing two-and-half-year-old son Arlo, so please be patient as he didn’t get much sleep last night.
Jason is a full-time Buddhist and an occasional cocktailer.
Born and raised in Texas, Teal now resides in Los Angeles, California. With a keen eye for detail, color, and natural light, she creates original imagery with a true sense of place for clients across the genres of travel & lifestyle, landscape, architecture, and still life. The need to travel was instilled in her at a young age. Growing up in a family of architects, artists and travelers, she is grateful to have been immersed in an environment of creativity and curiosity from the start. Before she learned how to make a photograph, she learned how to be a traveler. Travel is when she is most engaged, most inspired and most challenged. Learning bits of a new language and culture, getting lost in winding cobblestone streets or narrow dirt paths, meeting local people, and taking in every element of a moment – sights, scents, sounds and feelings. This is when she is most alive. The camera allows her to capture and share these moments.

I am a commercial photographer based in Southern California, with an emphasis in creating sports lifestyle imagery.
My love for photography began when I was 11 years old with a Sports Illustrated subscription that included a free camera. Changing the plastic cameras f-stop’s from cloudy to partly cloudy, and even to the sunny setting was all the sophistication I needed to test it out the first time photographing Shamu on our family vacation. From there, as they say, the rest is history.
Having participated in sports and outdoor adventure throughout my life I naturally gravitated towards sports lifestyle imagery. It has always provided me with opportunities to challenge myself in new ways, creatively and technically. Whether I’m photographing an NBA superstar with a five minute time limit or capturing a runner in full stride, each day as a photographer is exhilarating and satisfying.

I’m a lifestyle and portrait photographer from Italy, currently residing in Los Angeles. As a young boy I had a colorful vintage 1960s map of the United States above my bed. Each main region was represented with a little sketch or figure, very detailed, and I had dreams that one day I was going to be there and discover all those places myself. My passion for visual arts encouraged me to study graphic design and work as web designer in Italy.
The opportunity became reality in 2002 when I moved from Italy and my journey started in San Francisco. In few years I ended up in various circumstances in the city of Angeles.
The multicultural environment, the vibrant lifestyle and the excitement for embracing this new adventure of life has been my motivation for taking photographs. A passion I cultivated since I was a young teenager and has transformed my life and career. After lot of training and experience, I consider myself very fortunate.
There is nothing that makes me happier than being in a creative, collaborative & professional environment. I have studied as a director, cinematographer, photographer, graphic designer & painter. I love art and the entirety of the creative process, which is why I have dedicated my life to it.
