I was born and raised in sunny Southern California, went to IT school, and graduated with a B.S. in Network and Communications Management. I worked in the IT industry in California and Japan for a short time when I realized this is not for me. The decision to leave that secure full-time job in IT, even when more money was offered to stay, was a choice that not many people would probably endeavor. I wanted a life and that's what photography has given me.
My passion for pictures turned into a career that I never thought possible in a foreign country that still amuses and confuses me until this day. I'm surrounded by wonderful people all over the world and often find myself getting on planes more than usual, creating pictures for myself and viewers like you.
Believe it or not, but I suck at Photoshop, which is why my work is, what it is. Just clean, simple and straightforward storytelling. I guess you could say I'm most regarded as being a photographer rather than a digital artist.
I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and am currently based in the Hartford area (Newington, CT to be exact), working as a freelance photographer for/with some great people. My location is ideal for regional travel within New England with convenient access to air travel for points beyond. With 15 years of full-time freelancing, my skills are transferable between news, portraits, enterprise, tv/film sets, sports, food and travel. I have experience efficiently working solo, successfully as part of a crew and leading a small creative team. For the past decade I’ve been a regular contributor to many national media publications/agencies.
Prior to Connecticut I freelanced for five years in Las Vegas, another five in Nashville, yet another five in New York City and before that earned a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin. Portions of my back archive are syndicated by Redux Pictures.

It all starts with my grandfather, a Cuban publicist.
From my childhood, I began my journey through the world of the visual; photo after photo, logo after logo, I had my first approaches with the textures, shapes and colors that define my work today.
In my youth, while studying BANG Advertising! I discovered cameras and photography and decided to dedicate life and senses to them.
I traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina and studied photography. I then worked in the United States as an assistant to different photographers, expanding my technical skills and my vision, in a mixture of experience, passion, knowledge and the definition of my own style.
I work as a photographer for music bands, magazine publishers and advertising campaigns, always reflecting my personal style and a special interest in highlighting the details, trying to see beyond what a single image reflects.
Matt is an award-winning editorial portrait, commercial advertising, industrial, and sports photographer out of a southern town just a few minutes south of Atlanta called Macon. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Mercer University in Human Services ( he's a people person) Back in the day, he tried his hand in TV as a commercial TV producer and was promoted to a sports reporter. During his time there he shot local news and a little photography (he stuck with the latter). When he's not on assignment, he's more than likely watching his favorite soccer team Arsenal FC, boxing, coaching soccer, reading, drinking hazelnut coffee, or listening to 80's music (and yes he's a huge Hall and Oates fan). He's also an avid comic collector who is one of a few people to hold an original copy of the 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 first print…COWABUNGA
Matt is available to travel for assignments within the US and internationally. He keeps his passport ready!
