Romanian/Romani transplant living in constant fear of eastern european accents since August ’12.
After graduating the most prestigious accounting school in Romania I single-handedly bankrupt the entire country. It only took me two years and it’s my greatest achievement to date.
Shortly after, I got kicked out and sailed for the only place a reject like me could find fame and fortune – New York. I settled on the outskirts of Manhattan (which is now known as BK) where I am currently thriving in a community of Russian bears.
Quick Update: I’m in West Village now with all the cool kids.
Recently I started planning for world domination and contemplating birthing my own religion.
I mainly use photography as means to contact the spirit world. So far results have been inconclusive. More research is needed…

Born in Dallas, TX, I retain the Southern charm and politeness which eases the minds of models and my team on set. My interest in photography began when film photography was king. Following a year at GA Tech for Computer Engineering and several more years finding myself, I returned to school for Fashion Photography in Chicago. There, I honed my skills, fell in love with digital photography, and learned to shoot with purpose.
Since moving to NYC, I have continued to experiment and grow as an artist. I love to tell visual stories through my unique perspective. My aesthetic leans towards polished and stylized. I have a mastery of natural and artificial light as well as an ability to transform a space into a place not fully recognizable.
I also learned the role of Digital Tech in the fast-paced world of e-commerce. Tasks included building shot lists, camera & computer support, backups with Chronosync, and processing of files.
My ideal job is to photograph fashion and beauty campaigns for trendy and upscale brands; using my skills to benefit brands by elevating their aesthetic, creating timeless and artistic moments.
Outside of photography, I am passionate about good food, stimulating conversation, great television, and modern art. I have also been told I excel at dad jokes and terrible, terrible puns.
I love creating narratives through photographs — about people, moments, businesses, the creative process — everything really. There's always a story.
My focus is fashion, portrait, and lifestyle photography. My personal work has focused on street photography. I love the hunt for the moment, the delight of the unexpected, and the tableau of the everyday.
I'm a self-taught photographer and former lawyer. I've also freelanced as a writer for several New York newspapers.
I live in New York City with my husband and two daughters.
Cathlin is a Photographer and Director based in Austin, Texas who loves photographing people, and you get the sense that her portraits are challenging you with an achingly beautiful question about life you can’t put into words. (Either that or they’re playing up something funny!) She’s inspired by shadows and light, that kinetic energy you can feel on your skin, and a sentimental longing that connects us all. Cathlin is a mama to two children who are often depicted in her photographs.
Cathlin takes the photographs that don’t look staged. The in-between moments. The funny inside jokes. The commercial photography that doesn’t look over-produced and over-lit. Her sweet spot comes from observing how people naturally act and move, and directing them to “do more of that”.
She grew up on a lake in Iowa, and her adventure heart never quit those big open skies, which is how she ended up in Texas. Cathlin came to UT for grad school and fell in love with Texas. It felt like home. Since she lived in Austin in the 90s, she considers herself an honorary Texan.
She enjoys surfing whenever possible, which is almost never (land-locked in Texas). Her friends call her brave and scrappy, and her work weird. She thinks they should get out more.

"I am made up of everything I have seen", said Matisse at the end of his life, and this beautiful turn of phrase describes the way Irene Peña goes about crafting a picture. Through her untamed images runs a deep river of knowing and seeing, of filling up her mind with dresses, light and shadow, movement and haze. The photographer's craft reaches back in time from the precise moment an idea came to be, sometimes in collaboration with a designer or an artist. Irene takes that idea and develops it with the trained eye of an editor: backgrounds, locations, lighting, models, colors, and poses begin to fall into place. There is always a pleasure in rediscovering her images once the shoot is over; in this new calm she continues her work of acutely observing, every little square a possibility of beauty.
Born in Costa Rica, Irene began studying painting and graphic design, which morphed into a career in photography. She studied at Santa Monica College, in California, and after a stint as an advertising photographer, she turned to the world of fashion photography in Los Angeles. Right now, Irene is based in Costa Rica, where she continues her innovative work, using analog and digital cameras, with established designers and new Costa Rican talent.

Since the beginning of my career, photography has taken me all over the world and introduced me to many talented and inspirational people. Life has been extremely good to me. That's enough about me. Tell me about yourself. Send me an email, and let me know what you're into.
