Our June web analytics were pretty consistent with our numbers from May. Last month, our site saw 20,566 sessions, 14,542 users, compared to 21,082 sessions from 14,488 users in May. Check out an overview of our June analytics below:

Below are the geography stats for the month of June. The United States led the way once again, with 11,694 sessions. In second place was Russia, followed by the United Kingdom and Canada.
Our top ten geographic referrals in June.
Unfortunately, some of the sessions from Russia had a high bounce rate, meaning that a good amount of those visitors were probably actually spam bots. We call this ghost referrer spam since the bots likely are never on the site; they are just showing up in the data (somehow!). Their goal is to get your attention via your Google analytics so that you click to their site. These bots are annoying because they skew and spoil your data, but they are (luckily) not harmful to a site’s security or SEO. Now that we’ve spotted them, we’ll be taking measures to keep them out of our analytics in the future.
If you use Google Analytics to measure your data, I strongly suggest that you check your account to see if they may be messing with your numbers. The easiest way to spot them is to check the “source” in your “referrals” section. From the homepage, click acquisition, then the all traffic dropdown, followed by the referrals tab. In the source category, look for any sites that sound like they may be spammers. Most commonly, the scammer sites show up as “trafficmonetize.org,” “4webmasters.org,” or “webmonetizer.net.” I found this helpful article online to help you eliminate them from your data.
Ok, back to the real numbers! Below are our top clicked photographers for the month of June.

Leading the way is Los Angeles celebrity photographer Daniel Bergeron with a whopping 89 clicks from his WM profile to his site. Following Daniel was Austin Hargrave, Trinette + Chris, Jonathan Chapman, with Jason Myers rounding out the top five.

This month, I decided to highlight our mobile traffic in addition to the analytics we typically cover. In June, 4,047 of our sessions came from mobile devices (including tablets)—nearly 1/4 of our overall traffic. This just reinforces the need for a site that’s responsive and mobile-friendly, which is why we made that a priority during our recent redesign!
