San Francisco based commercial photographer and video producer Vance Jacobs came to me with an opportunity to revamp his PDF portfolio for his tactical marketing for the New Year. As the project manager and primary consultant for this project, it was important for me to promote his most recent tactical brand narrative work in a way that was conducive to brands seeking photographers who excel in telling stories through their images. Since Vance was in the process of working with our Photo Editor, Stacy, on Project Edits to update the Tactical gallery on his website, it seemed like the perfect time to get his marketing content in order and have it reflect his most recent work.

I collaborated with Stacy to select five to six images per project that would narrate a condensed version of the new edits she made to his website based on the various training exercises he photographed. By narrowing down his projects to a few select images, we could give clients a sneak peak of the new brand narrative content Vance created for The Marine Raiders, National Guard, and U.S. Army.

Tailored PDF edits are meant to highlight the strongest images in your portfolio and are an excellent gateway for clients to quickly preview a photographer’s body of work and then lead into their website. With the final image selects, we were able to narrow down Vance's promotional edit to showcase four different training projects emphasizing the range of his tactical expertise.

Above is a preview of Vance's final edit of four brand narrative tactical projects, carefully sequenced to show chronological order of training exercises.

In addition to selecting and sequencing the images, I also created title pages for each project and included brief descriptions Vance had prepared for me. I started the PDF Edit by creating a title page with his logo, wrote up a description introducing Vance and clients, followed by the opening title of his first project, Basic Training. Below you can see how I integrated the text pages within his PDF Edit
