Another month, another round of portfolio meetings! For February, Sean and I headed once again to the city that never sleeps to meet with Food Network Magazine, Outdoor Life/Field & Stream and Ogilvy & Mather. First up was Food Network Magazine. We were excited to hear that they use our site frequently to find photographers for upcoming projects, and they were excited to hear about the stock request tool. They were also impressed with all the photographers we brought along, and commented on how nice the edits were. They loved the styling in Mary Britton Senseney’s portfolio, and also loved the work of Stephen DeVries and Ashley Gieseking. With grumbling stomachs, we headed out to our next meeting.

Sean chats with the creatives at Food Network Magazine while they check out our food photographers.

Next up was a meeting in the Bonnier building with Justin Appenzeller, a photo editor who works on both Outdoor Life and Field & Stream. He was impressed that all the photographers we brought had physical books, and was excited to see some photographers that he’s already familiar with, like Hollis Bennett. He also enjoyed Eli Meir Kaplan’s lighting style, and the work of Ryan Gibson and Joseph Escamilla. Sean snagged some new issues of the magazine, and we geared up for our last meeting.

Sean strolls the streets of New York with a case of portfolios in tow.

After a quick lunch (of the best white pizza I’ve ever had) we headed over to Ogilvy & Mather. The various branches of the agency giant took up all eleven floors in a huge (and beautiful!) building right off of the Hudson River. We brought along lifestyle, portraiture and conceptual shooters, and they were not disappointed with the selection. Among the favorites were David Zaitz and Rickett & Sones. They also loved the portraits in Jeff Singer’s book, and commented on the high quality printing of Inti St. Clair’s book, which was extra great to hear since we printed it in house (more on that to come)!

Greeted by Ogilvy's iconic logo, and Ogilvy creatives gather around to check out some portfolios.

With three more meetings on the books, Sean and I headed back to Philly to get started on planning the next trip!

See ya next time New York!
