Our motion specialty has been steadily growing over the past couple of years and is now represented by over 20% of Wonderful Machine’s directory. Stills have been Wonderful Machine’s bread and butter, but over time we’ve become a go-to resource for commercial videographers. When clients are spending tens of thousands of dollars on photography or motion productions, it just makes sense to combine some of the cost and capture both to the extent that is possible. This is a trend that we have noticed in the industry, and Wonderful Machine can produce these projects for clients as well as recommend photographers, videographers, or someone who can do both. This gave us a variety of things to discuss with Producer Jakkie Krinick and her production team at our meeting with MOD Worldwide.
Wonderful Machine’s Executive Producer Craig Oppenheimer and I took the unpredictable ride down 76 and found ourselves in Philly with time to grab a cup of coffee from La Colombe before our meeting. Jakkie and her team are responsible for the video production at MOD Worldwide and were interested in learning how Wonderful Machine could help them out. While they handle most of their production in-house, there are times that they have too much on their plate and need to pass some things off. Wonderful Machine’s ability to handle a full executive production, or step in as freelance producers, makes us an excellent fit for agencies who have in-house production teams. Whether they need a large amount of support or just need a little bit of assistance, we are ready and willing to step in. Our network of photographers, videographers, and crew around the world allows us to make things happen under tight deadlines. We showed them our videographers through our motion specialty listed on our site and through Wonderful Machine’s YouTube channel. Videographer Tom Kranzle’s (Venture Visuals) Dollar Shave Club project was a hit with the team.
While Jakkie’s team is mostly responsible for motion, MOD Worldwide handles a lot of still photography as well. We showed off a variety of member portfolios and discussed our ability to make complimentary photographer and videographer recommendations for projects all around the globe. Cherry Li’s portfolio is genuinely one of a kind, and it’s unique binding style captured the team’s full attention. Our meeting with Jakkie and the MOD team paired two companies with worldwide industry influence that happen to be right down the road from each other.
As we move into the Holiday season, we’re making a push to keep getting our members’ portfolios in front of quality clients. With four meetings already scheduled, November is looking like a productive month!
