7 Best Miami Lifestyle Photographers

BY Sankha Wanigasekara 16 December 2022
Lifestyle Published, Listicle

Miami is a magnet for diversity. Life in the city revels in variety of all sorts, and a walk through its many streets would be an enlightening experience. It celebrates a coalition of cultures from the Cuban to the Caribbean and the Hispanic to the Asian Pacific. Head from Greater Miami to Miami Beach, and then Little Haiti before Little Havana for a journey of a thousand flavors packed into a few square miles. Everyone can feel at home in The 305, and this warmth is captured in unfiltered format by Miami lifestyle photographers. If this sunny atmosphere deserves a place in your upcoming campaign, we found seven individuals perfect for the job.

At Wonderful Machine, lifestyle photography depicts an idealized, aspirational version of real life, often using professional models, hair/make-up, props, wardrobe, and locations, yet still looking authentic. It’s often intended to help promote a product or service, but it can also be used editorially. The photographers below surpass our expectations by choreographing visions that we’d all be envious of, involving moments that are both simple and spectacular.

Mary Beth Koeth

Initially, Mary Beth Koeth’s background in design paved the way for opportunities with Hallmark Cards in the US and UK. Eventually, while traversing the landscapes of Europe with a camera as a traveling companion, she knew photography was worth pursuing as a career. After that epiphany, she had the good fortune of learning from the likes of Nancy Bundt, Sid Hoeltzell, and Joe Pugliese, leaving her in exclusive company as a lifestyle photographer in Miami. While she specializes in portraiture, Mary Beth also brings her creativity and technical skill to the lifestyle specialty, carrying a sun-soaked aesthetic across home, work, and social settings.

Mary Beth’s clients include AdWeek Magazine, ESPN, Google, Masterclass, Bank of America, The Hollywood Reporter, Airbnb, AARP, Compass Real Estate, and many others.

Steve Boxall

If Steve Boxall’s images are anything to go by, happiness is the only emotional state humans can operate in. Across all his photographic specialties, smiles are a trademark sight. This is equally applicable to his lifestyle photos and those of corporate workspaces. Whether his subjects are taking the dog for a walk or completing an assignment on a laptop, they find a way to enjoy the process. If his portfolio needed a slogan, “glass half full” would be just right, making him another fine addition to our list of Miami lifestyle photographers.

I’m all about capturing images of a fabulous life, and when I say that, honestly, it’s completely true.

Steve’s clients include Sports Illustrated, Adidas, Viva Resorts, Verizon, Condé Nast Traveller, Royal Caribbean, Paramount, Universal, Google, Zero Gravity Corporation, and many others.

George Kamper

George Kamper has followed a multidisciplinary path in photography, working across numerous specialties from lifestyle and hospitality to sports and beauty. It all boils down to his passion for creative exploration and experimentation, testing his limits and boundaries while satisfying clients.

George’s lifestyle portfolio leans more toward outdoor settings, harnessing natural light to show people enjoying nature and each other’s company, whether through a stroll along the beach or some cycling around the neighborhood. His photos of indoor settings document varieties of familial bliss and friendship, once again proving his versatility across specialties and within one.

George has worked with Leo Burnett, Mountain View Group, Whitehaus Media Group, TILT36T, Equestrian Living Magazine, and countless other clients. With many of them, he has cultivated relationships spanning decades, so the chances of your returning to him for commercial and editorial campaigns are very high indeed.

Sonya Revell

Despite her fantasies of becoming a race car driver and circus performer, Sonya Revell’s talent with the camera easily solidifies photography as her ideal profession. She’s a lifestyle photographer in Miami whose work frequently leans against the hospitality specialty, presenting portraits of rest and relaxation, along with various excursions at tourist destinations. Familial situations are also a frequent sight in her portfolio, carrying her signature style of “delightful daydreams of dazzling candy colors.”

Sonya’s clients include American Airlines, Boston University, Forbes, LUXE Interiors + Design, Penguin Random House, University of Miami, The Wall Street Journal, Wine Spectator, Wells Fargo, and many others.

John Olive

John Olive is a lifestyle photographer in Miami who first picked up the camera professionally in 2009. His photos within the specialty center on relationships among friends and family, highlighting social connection as a means to an aspirational life. John also loves being in, on, or near water, so expect the waves cradling the beaches of Miami to appear regularly in his portfolio. Separately, John focuses on furnishing fashion and beauty images in the commercial and editorial spaces. The sleek and polished look of that half of his portfolio visits the lifestyle side whenever possible, making additional statements via the subjects’ clothing.

John’s clients include Cosmopolitan, G-Fit, Jockey, Miami Bunny, Paxful, Simply Nature Bio Goods, South Seas Island Resort, Veve Eyewear, Virgin Voyages, Vnikabrand, and many others.

Mauricio Candela

Mauricio Candela’s interest in photography began during his career as an art director. He collaborated with exceptional photographers and directors in advertising, learning from them before eventually switching to their side of the world. In hindsight, it feels like he always belonged behind the camera, with his work garnering awards and recognition from Cannes Lions, Lürzer’s Archive, New York Festival, Prix de la Photographie, and many other organizations. His images carry a cinematic luster across indoor, outdoor, daytime, and nighttime settings, revealing masterful manipulation of light and atmosphere to transform everyday scenarios into magical ones.

Mauricio’s clients include Porsche, TBWA Chicago, Alma DDB, StateFarm, AT&T, Chase Bank, Ford, Lincoln, Coca-Cola, Hershey’s, Y&R, Bravo, McCann Casanova, Saatchi & Saatchi, Toyota, Bud Light, FedEx, Mercedes-Benz, Sony, Colgate, PlayStation, and many others.

Amanda Julca

Among the Miami lifestyle photographers we’ve highlighted, Amanda Julca’s aesthetic has often been labeled “poetic, authentic, and expressive,” emerging from her education and training in the arts. She earned her BA in Art and a minor in Art History from Otterbein University before studying Fresco painting in Italy at the Accademia del Giglio. These roots have informed her work as a photographer for over a decade, where she paints friends, family, and lovers in the most colorful terms, against the backdrops of oceans and mountain ranges or the verdant simplicity of a garden at home.

Amanda’s clients include Marriott Bonvoy, Toyota, Target, Verizon, Edy’s Ice Cream, Universal Music, Sony Music, 5-Hour Energy, Time, Forbes, Condé Nast Traveler, Billboard, Business Insider, and many others. Like many on our list, Amanda’s very fond of traveling, so assignments beyond Miami are most definitely welcome.

Planning your next commercial or editorial campaign should be easier with any one of these Miami lifestyle photographers in your corner. They’ve got the creativity, technical skill, and experience to supply a slice of the 305 to your next assignment.
