Stockholm, Sweden-based photographer Evan Pantiel recently took ten days in between jobs to photograph a tribe in Ethiopia. Although Evan originally approached me with photos of the ongoing protests in Kiev, Ukraine, this self-assigned project stuck out to me as particularly stunning. Evan gave a bit of background on the images:
Ethiopia has always been on my to do to visit and photograph. Most people spend a month in Ethiopia because of it’s size and the amount of places to see. Since I was limited on time, I focused on one tribe to maintain constancy, and created a storyboard of images I “wanted” before I arrived. With six days allocated to transportation, I only had four real days to photograph. Luckily everything fell into place when I arrived and I was able to capture most of the shots I wanted. While some refer to this area as “third-world”, their laid-back and individualistic lifestyle is a lesson to those of us who get caught up in our everyday life too often.
