Washington, D.C.-based commercial, advertising, and editorial photographer Goran Kosanovic recently shot the new menu for Ambar, an Eastern European Richard Sandoval restaurant in D.C. Goran has worked with many famous chefs in the area and was happy to get this opportunity, as he loves food and drink from the Balkans (a geographical region in Southeast Europe). During this shoot he realized just how much he loves it, especially because he went into it on an empty stomach!
For this photo shoot we tried to create a rustic look; we got specific props and prepared the background. Direction and lighting technic also created the mood that owners wanted. It confirmed what I already knew—never shoot food on a empty stomach. It’s so difficult to focus.
We can’t really blame him, it made us hungry just looking at the photos!
