English
My name is Luke Copping, and I'm a Buffalo NY based commercial and editorial portrait photographer.
I grew up in Canada but now live in Buffalo with my wife and kids. We love it here, and a lot of my photography focuses on the makers and doers who are busting their asses to make this Rust Belt city thrive again — I'm grateful that I get to be a part of telling that story.
I create portraits for advertising agencies, magazines, and corporate clients across the US, Canada, and Europe — my portraits capture the vision, drive, and struggle of leaders, competitors, and driven underdogs.
I’m allergic to cats and boredom — being a photographer is a good cure for the second one because I get to tell a different story every day.
Even though I went to a great school and have had some fantastic mentors, I like to tell people I learned everything I know about photography during a training montage (queue the inspiring synth music…)
If you're ever in Buffalo, I'll take you to the super-secret wing spots locals go to. And when you get bored of wings, I'll show you how this city really eats.
I love black licorice, baking bread, reading horror novels, collecting fountain pens, exploring Buffalo's local food scene, and taking aimless late-night drives.
I adore travel and will happily fly across the country/planet to make an image or two.
I'm scared of dolls.
I believe portrait photography is more than just a technical exercise and is instead a synthesis of vision, moment, and process that illustrates and amplifies something about the subject that is usually unseen.
I have the same birthday as Louis Daguerre..
