My relationship with photography dates to elementary school when my family moved into a house with a darkroom. I spent most of my childhood there. In junior high I happed upon Cheryl Tiegs modeling for a shoot in Washington Square. I poached some frames. The pics scored me the job of photo editor of our high school newspaper. This was my big break because my then-classmate Jimmy Hirsch went on to be a staff writer for the New York Times. He somehow talked them into giving me an actual assignment. It went well and they gave me a couple more. It was official. I could legitimately say I shot for the New York Times. That was 1986. A couple thousand assignments later, I have begrudgingly lived through the transition from film to digital. As a reprieve, I have adopted a forgotten photographic process, the photogravure, and am diving deeply into its preservation. My wife, Hilary, whose patience, maturity and wisdom netted us three now-grown children is so supportive of my photogravure obsession that even when she can’t sleep, she asks about it…
Mary Beth Koeth was born on June 2nd, 1982 in Ohio. She’s the youngest of five kids whose names all begin with M…she’s still not sure why her parents, Mike and Marlene, thought that was a good idea. Her parents moved to Texas when she was one, and she quickly embraced the Texas uniform: cowboy boots and a slight food stain on the lower bottom corner of her shirt. She survived Catholic elementary and grade school despite the fact that she told a priest during confession that she had robbed a bank. Koeth went to an all-girls college prep where she spent the majority of her time in the darkroom sniffing hazardous chemicals and forgetting to shave her legs. She was a vegetarian for eight years…then lemon chicken happened. She spent three and a half years at Texas Tech University and a semester in Florence dreaming about hot make-out sessions in the darkroom, but came out with a Design Communication degree instead. Armed with visions of power suits and briefcases, Mary Beth moved to Kansas City to work as a designer for Hallmark Cards. She later moved overseas to further her greeting card design skills with Hallmark UK. Koeth spent her weekends traveling Europe with a camera in hand and soon realized her goal of going back to school to pursue photography seemed fathomable. She spent two and a half months in Norway assisting photographer, Nancy Bundt and observing tall, blond men. She's also interned for Miami photographer, Sid Hoeltzell and Joe Pugliese in Los Angeles. She now lives out of two suitcases, calling Miami home.

I was trained as a photojournalist so I find inspiration everywhere — from my travels abroad to my own backyard. My biggest source of inspiration is light, especially the way it can dramatically change a scene. I love the glow of morning light through fog, the graphic shadows of noon light, the light of an overcast day, and the dramatic rose-colored light at sunset.

I shoot corporate, advertising and editorial commissions for international companies and publications, advertising agencies, hotels and resorts. I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of 12 or 13, I got a nice toy as a gift: a fancy Kodak Fiesta. Loading 120mm roll film into the “techie” device quickly became one of my passions. Then, a family holiday trip to Machu Picchu, Peru, offered me my first breathtaking location to shoot. Afterwards, I processed the rolls, saw the results and never quit shooting since then. I travel frequently to shoot assignments in different regions and countries. Traveling around the globe is part of my life and photography style. My work is usually published by top companies, and publications such as Travel + Leisure, Wall Street Journal, Departures, Gourmet, The New York Times Style Magazine, Fortune, Business Week, Outside, Ocean Drive, National Geographic Traveler, Harpers & Queen (UK), Condè Nast Traveler (UK), Elle Decor (Germany) , Casa Brutus (Japan), among others.

I am a commercial and editorial photographer based in Atlanta, Georgia. The youngest of four kids in a military family, there were five stamps in my passport by the time I was five years old. My father retired from the air force just before I entered kindergarten and we moved to North Florida where life became more predictable. A few years later, I began to take pictures (mostly of my pets and friends) with my mom's point-and-shoot to entertain myself and also because I loved going to K-Mart where I could sit at the counter and talk to people while waiting for my prints to shuffle out of the machine. my work is a combination of storytelling and portraiture, often with a focus on social issues. My roots are in the American south and I am as passionate about doing work here as any other place in the world. I am a Spanish-speaker (also fluent in non-verbal communication) and have worked extensively in central and south America, Europe, and Asia.

Born and raised in Connecticut, I made my way to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After graduating with a BFA in Fine Arts, I spent a decade working as a photo editor for travel, fashion, and finance publications while growing my own photography company. This is when I fell in love with the fast pace and creative energy of capturing events. For the past ten years, my wife Caryn & I have been running a boutique corporate event agency with a small team of photographers and editors covering large trade shows and conferences as well as smaller brand activations and networking events. Many of our clients are based in New York, but our work has taken us around the country to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Miami, and Boston. We love to travel!

I have shot a wide variety of projects both commercial and travel/documentary, and am always taking on more. Some like to take the easy road, others prefer the path less travelled. I am a fan of the latter – I thrive on challenge, detail, and problem solving. It’s that passion that makes me crave the right shot, right set, and most mouth-watering styling. Food photography is not a simple path from idea to execution – it’s an exploration and often a collaboration. When I first began to explore this type of work I knew it would make for an epic creative journey from my first attempts at lighting, to the way I continue to push myself creatively today. I am always exploring and I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning. When I’m not in the kitchen or the studio you’ll find me happily collecting my share of sand and dirt out on the mountain bike trails in Central Florida. To me there is no better feeling than the rush you get from a job well done…except maybe the rush of rolling along a beautifully flowing trail with some happy jumps and berms in a beautiful wooded setting.
Cathlin is a Photographer and Director based in Austin, Texas who loves photographing people, and you get the sense that her portraits are challenging you with an achingly beautiful question about life you can’t put into words. (Either that or they’re playing up something funny!) She’s inspired by shadows and light, that kinetic energy you can feel on your skin, and a sentimental longing that connects us all. Cathlin is a mama to two children who are often depicted in her photographs. Cathlin takes the photographs that don’t look staged. The in-between moments. The funny inside jokes. The commercial photography that doesn’t look over-produced and over-lit. Her sweet spot comes from observing how people naturally act and move, and directing them to “do more of that”. She grew up on a lake in Iowa, and her adventure heart never quit those big open skies, which is how she ended up in Texas. Cathlin came to UT for grad school and fell in love with Texas. It felt like home. Since she lived in Austin in the 90s, she considers herself an honorary Texan. She enjoys surfing whenever possible, which is almost never (land-locked in Texas). Her friends call her brave and scrappy, and her work weird. She thinks they should get out more.
