I’m a French photographer based in Warsaw, Poland. Originally from Paris, I have lived a good part of my life abroad, particularly in Asia. I’ve been a full-time photographer most of my adulthood. I made my first steps in this job with a documentary approach, which evolved over time into a slower, cleaner, more “commercial” style. Still, I feel my roots are in documentary and this comes through in my work as bold, punchy, and atmospheric images. A life of traveling has made me comfortable in varieties of situations, flexible and instinctive, able to get results in all sorts of environments. Clients have trusted me on hundreds of assignments across over 30 countries. I am also a coffee & beer enthusiast, herbal soap hunter, raw concrete addict, and retro design aficionado.

I’m a architectural photographer and filmmaker based in Shanghai, China focusing on architecture and interiors. I grew up on the sunny Gulf coast of Florida before eventually making my way west to begin my career as an architect in San Francisco. That career took me to Asia where I spent over a decade designing and delivering large-scale commercial projects before transitioning into photography. Having been there myself, I have a deep understanding of the immense effort it often takes to bring a stunning piece of architecture through to completion. I try to see myself as an extension of your team, tasked with capturing your project in a way that showcases its best attributes, with the ultimate goal of creating a set of images that tells a compelling story. I also regularly write for APAlmanac, the best online resource for architectural photographers in the world.

Growing up in the heart of the flyover states (Indiana), sometimes I'm even surprised that I live in Texas now. After receiving an early career grant from the National Geographic Society to work in coastal Louisiana, I moved down south and made Houston my home. They say you'll adjust to the heat, but I'm four years in and growing more skeptical by the day. When not taking care of my houseplants or triathlon training, I'm a full-time independent editorial and commercial photographer interested in photographing where climate and culture collide. I've been commissioned to do work for The New York Times, HBO, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Airbnb, The Washington Post, NPR, Bloomberg Businessweek, AFP, Buzzfeed News and Paper Magazine among other clients. I'm also a FAA Part 107 licensed drone pilot.

Richard’s love for photography is deeply rooted in his childhood. Although his father worked as a mining engineer in Eschweiler, Germany, he also created images of Europe’s most beautiful places, from the Italian Dolomites and Austrian Alps to the Italian Mediterranean coast. The father’s passion became the son’s dream. At age 17, Richard decided the best way to become a professional photographer would be to move overseas and get a college education in America. He immigrated first to Huntington, West Virginia, where he attended his senior year of high school; after graduation, he moved to Florida and attended the Photography Institute at Daytona State College. After college, Richard continued his education and further developed his craft with several acclaimed Florida-based photographers. He immersed himself in architectural, hospitality and marine photography and went on to form his own business in 2002. He operated Richard Steinberger Photography in Door County, Wisconsin, and Denver, Colorado, before relocating to Beaufort, South Carolina, in 2020. In the last two decades, Richard has become one of the world’s top marine photographers. His clients include some of the most most iconic brands in recreational boating, including Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and Chris-Craft. He also has worked with prominent clients in architectural design, travel/tourism and hospitality. When not working on national and international commercial projects, Richard spends his time working on film productions, most notably “Waniyetu Wowapi (Winter Count).” This documentary film — commissioned by the nonprofit Cheyenne River Youth Project on the South Dakota’s Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation — won a Social Impact Award at the 2022 Latino & Native American Film Festival inStamford, Connecticut. Richard lives in Beaufort with his wife, Heather, daughter, Johanna, and Great Pyrenees, Kaya. When not he’s busy telling stories, he can be found on his classic motor launch Mach Buffett, exploring the Lowcountry’s tidal rivers, salt marshes and sandbars.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I almost became a Nuclear Engineer. Thankfully, after about a year of college physics and math, my creative brain cells wrestled control over the nerdy geek in me and pointed me to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. I still have a bit of that nerdy geek in me, but in a creative photographic way. The San Francisco Bay Area is where I landed after graduation and where I launched Vantage Point Photography. I love what I do. I love the process. I love creating images that cause people to pause, to look, to think and sometimes to smile. My other loves? My kids, our dog, a good hiking trail, and my SX 70 loaded with Polaroid film.

Born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. I spent a great deal of my childhood traveling across the country with my family. It was on those trips that i started documenting my surroundings with an instant camera. After getting a photography degree in Denmark i have worked closely with both agencies & magazines all over the world. When i am not out taking photos I am hopefully running or hiking trails, cross country skiing, playing with my daughters or listening to music in a remote mountain cabin.
ABOUT I fell into photography and into climbing at the same time, in my early twenties. The two fed each other: I had to climb bigger and wilder mountains so I would get better images, and I had to become a better photographer so I could do justice to the epic scenes unfolding in front of me. Over ten years ago now, I made the decision to drop out of my computer science studies and move to the climbing mecca of Chamonix to be a full time adventure photographer. I am grateful that photography has given me so many opportunities to live unique experiences. There are too many to list exhaustively, but highlights include sailing an expedition yacht around Cape Horn, being invited to an Ethiopian coffee ceremony in Dadaab Refugee Camp, photographing Usain Bolt at the Olympics, skiing to the North Pole, naming three (small) mountains in Greenland, adventure racing through Tierra del Fuego, climbing on K2 and getting winched from a rescue helicopter at night [1]. Though I have since branched out in other genres of photography, from portraiture to humanitarian, automotive and industrial work, I remain passionate about using the still image as a powerful tool to tell stories and convey emotions. I am also a problem solver at heart, used to dealing with the complicated logistics of shooting in wild places with unpredictable weather. And when the circumstances call for it, I have even been known to put on a producer hat. After some time in the Canadian Rockies, I now live near Halifax, Nova Scotia, in Atlantic Canada, with my wife and two children. I miss Chamonix too much to stay away for long, though, and frequently travel back to the French Alps.

All of his images are crafted with an eye on creating a realistic representation that transports the viewer to the space. The mountains are my home. Living in the Swiss Alps, I am surrounded by the beauty of the mountains every day. Fascinated by photography and imagery since childhood, I studied the Dutch Old Masters; the work of these realistic painters and storytellers inspired me to tell their stories. A highly trained eye is an essential tool in the photographer's kit box. Building me own Swiss chalet, I was inspired by the fine details and stories of other homes and buildings. The art of interior photography was born. With every home, there is a story to tell; Haute'Xposure is the culmination of this artistic story. Photographing interiors in the mountains is predominantly chalet photography working with chalet companies as well as private individuals. Working with interior designers and architects, recent projects are recorded for use on social media as well as for publications. However escaping the mountains to photograph city apartments, hotels and chateaux is also part of my work. I travel throughout Switzerland as well as the rest of Europe for projects.
