Rick Souders is a commercial photographer specializing in liquids, food, drink and still life photography. He is also the founder and owner of Souders Studios, based in Golden, Colorado. When Rick first approached us, we were immediately struck by his quality of work and passion for the trade. However, because web presence is such an important component of a photographer’s overall brand, Rick came to us for help with a web template customization.
Souders Studios was already off to a good start, with a large commercial portfolio site, two blogs and a plethora of landing pages that persuade visitors to visit the main site. Having this comprehensive of a web presence is great, but because the online world is advancing so rapidly, Souders Studios was in need of a branding facelift as well as a sleek new portfolio site. Their website at the time (below) had a bright and distracting color palette, small images, and wasn’t optimized to take advantage of viewing on both mobile devices and large desktop displays.
We began with a graphic identity, giving a fresh new face to the Souders Studios brand.
Once we’d established a strong graphic identity to pair with Rick’s already stellar photographic identity, we had the strong brand foundation we were after. From there, it was time to address the Souders site. We set up Rick on aPhotoFolio, one of our favorite web templates. aPhotoFolio is easy for the viewer to navigate, easy for Rick to update, offers an abundance of customizable features and is scaleable for viewing on various screen sizes.
On his About Us page, Rick says:
Working with light, texture, color, form and shape is so amazing to me. The art of seeing is a never-ending journey through life. Then add food and beverage to this fabulous journey and you simply can’t go wrong. So stop in to satisfy your creative hunger.
This is certainly true of the new website, and we’re so pleased that we could take part in this stage of Souders Studios’ evolution.
Rick was happy with our collaboration as well:
When Wonderful Machine initiated my logo rebrand, website and blog redesign, I was really excited. They came up with a logo and colors that worked well for my Studios and Brand. Melissa did a fabulous job with the design of the new reactive blogs. She was energetic and excited. She took the project very seriously and I have to say, she was a fun creative to collaborate with. The end result of the new look is spectacular!
Working on the Souders Studios website and blogs has been a great experience. Stay tuned for a post specifically about the blogs coming up soon!
