Social Media: February 2023

BY Iva Mikulandra Barkiđija 13 March 2023
Intel, Report Card, Social Media

With billions of active users across the globe, social media platforms have become a goldmine of data and insights, enabling businesses to understand their audience better and with that understand what kind of content will perform well. It’s important to bear in mind that social media is a continually evolving industry that demands constant attention to keep pace with its developments. After introducing polls into our stories on Instagram, we have experimented with re-sharing our content to stories on Instagram rather than uploading again which has proven beneficial as our Instagram statistics improved in February. The cardinal principle of social media is to maintain regularity and ingenuity, however it’s perfectly acceptable to experiment with different approaches.

Instagram

Starting off the February recap with Instagram, platform that performed very well this month. Reach has improved to 10,052 accounts reached, which is a little over +72% more than the previous month. Our engagement also increased compared to January by +171% with 858 accounts engaged. Additionally, we have expanded our audience and welcomed 659 new followers. One reason for this is that we are implementing two effective strategies on our Instagram account: re-sharing content to our stories and utilizing polls. As a result, the Instagram algorithm has favored our content and given it greater visibility. Furthermore, we have noticed a significant increase in our Instagram posts being reached by non-followers, suggesting they’re being featured on the Explore page and reaching a wider audience.

This month’s best-performing post belongs to Jessica Attie from Austin, Texas. She specializes mostly in Food/Drink and Lifestyle photography. Jessica’s photo gained over 1,454 impressions, and over 1,380 reach.

His behind-the-scenes reel on a photoshoot with NBA star Steph Curry has gained reach of over 5,700 with almost 6,200 plays.

Pinterest

Our Pinterest account saw a +7% bump in audience over the previous month, with a total of 116k Pinners. Additionally, we are counting 172k total impressions and 5k engagements. The top Parent Board of the month goes to the Photographer Specialties board. It gained over 55k impressions, 2k engagements, and nearly 2k pin clicks.

Our highest-performing pin goes to Andrew Trahan from Troy, Michigan. He specializes in Auto/Vehicles, Brand Narrative, and Lifestyle photography. Andrew’s pin got 235 impressions and 2 pin clicks.

Facebook

In February, our Facebook account gained 3K reach and 10 new followers. The most popular post of the month was actually a Photographer Spotlight article featuring Rachid Dahnoun with 167 reach and 3 link clicks. He is a Bodega Bay, California-based photographer who specializes in Aerial, Landscape, Lifestyle, and Outdoor/Adventure photography.

LinkedIn

Our LinkedIn reached a total of 3.6K followers, and 230 page views. Percentage-wise, we gained +13% more followers, and +5% more page views. Our most popular post this month is from one Hillary Maybery. She is a Ketchum, Idaho-based photographer, specializing in Brand Narrative, Lifestyle, Outdoor/Adventure and Sports/Fitness photography. This post, featuring her project with Schaefer Outfitter gained 273 impressions and 5 clicks.

Twitter

Twitter in February gave us a better performance than in January in some fields. With 316 profile visits, we are noting an almost +78% increase from last month’s 177 profile visits. However, impressions are -52% lower compared to the previous month. We can attribute some of that to the very platform being down a couple of times through February. Users have reported being unable to log in and use Twitter through February. However, we are expecting improvements as we will post more frequently in the future.

Our top tweet of the month goes to a Photographer Spotlight article featuring Rachid Dahnoun with 119 impressions. This story was posted to Facebook and there it gained the most reach in February as well.

📸 Photographer @RachidDahnoun journeyed across Iceland 🇮🇸 to photograph the Flipside Photo Backpack from @Lowepro.

YouTube

Another of our platforms noted an increase this month, YouTube. Our channel has earned 440 views and 6.9K impressions this month. A notable increase from the previous month was in watch time. With a total of 9.5 hours of watch time, this is a +39% improvement from January.

Our best-performing video of the month was a short from Jack Robert Connolly from Taylors, South Carolina. Jack specializes in Animals, Brand Narrative, Food/Drink, Portraiture, Sports/Fitness, and Travel photography. He created a short but great compilation of portraits that have gained 172 impressions and a CTR of a little over 4%.
